Patrick and Quinn

The words of Brenda, an Angels Foster Mom:

""I have always wanted children. After many costly attempts to become pregnant while married, and the demise of my marriage, I began my journey to motherhood as a single foster parent.

Once the decision is made to become someone’s foster mommy, the rest unfolds with guidance and education.

My first foster placement was that of my oldest son, Patrick. He had just celebrated his first birthday at Polinsky Children’s Center.

For nine months I took Patrick to and from twice-weekly visitations with his biological parents which were mandated by the court’s reunification program. Reunification efforts failed and I was able to adopt Patrick.

Five days after Patrick’s adoption was finalized, my second child, Quinn, was born. The county notified me that this boy had been taken to an emergency placement home and asked if I would be interested in fostering him, as he was Patrick’s biological brother.

I nervously met Quinn when he was six days old. I did not plan to have another child so quickly; however, once I saw him my mind was resolute that he would be joining our little family.

Bottom line – they needed a mother to love, care and nurture them – no matter what. Being their mommy makes me happy, challenged, fascinated and blessed – just like most moms!"
